Endowments Programs and Other Endowed Funds
Permanent funds for programs keep the college’s offerings competitive, varied and timely.
Reliable long-term support from an endowment allows °µÍø±¬ÁÏapp to develop stronger teaching programs, invest in new technologies, and maintain laboratories and other physical assets. Providing funds for the maintenance of college facilities ensures that the campus environment will enhance the educational program far into the future.
Roy P. Adams Lectureship in Missions
In 1982 this endowed fund was established in honor of Mildred J. Adams’ brother-in-law, Roy P. Adams, who was a retired missionary to China and Japan. She hoped this would spark the interest of °µÍø±¬ÁÏapp students in missions and provide them with information on the opportunities for service around the world. The fundamental purpose of the lectureship is to inform students and faculty of the nature and function of missions in today’s rapidly changing world. At the same time, it seeks to provide them with the information and experience necessary to move into formal preparation for a career as a Christian witness in another culture. The lectureship draws upon the expertise of key missionary figures, Christian leaders from other nations, resources from a host of missionary organizations, and the experience of °µÍø±¬ÁÏapp missionary alumni. Art Center Building Maintenance Fund
The Art Center Building Maintenance Fund was established in the early 1990s. The fund formerly supported the Reynolds Art Gallery and now supports the Adams Center for the Visual Arts. This endowment helps fund the upkeep and maintenance of the Center and its surroundings, including improving the display areas for artwork.
Coaching Apprenticeships at °µÍø±¬ÁÏapp
The Coaching Apprenticeships at °µÍø±¬ÁÏapp Endowment is intended to support apprenticeships for coaches serving °µÍø±¬ÁÏapp Athletics.
Dodrill Psychology Endowments
The Dodrill Psychology Endowment was established in 2001. This endowment supports the Psychology Department’s efforts and programs which are not otherwise funded by the operating budget including programs, equipment, faculty and student stipends for summer research, and professional development for faculty members. Thomas and Vivian Nelson Athletic Fund
Thomas and Vivian Nelson established the Thomas and Vivian Nelson Athletic Fund in 1998. They are friends and parents of °µÍø±¬ÁÏapp, and Tom has been a trustee of °µÍø±¬ÁÏapp since 1993. The Thomas and Vivian Nelson Athletic Fund supports °µÍø±¬ÁÏapp, encourages excellence in athletics and provides funds for the discretionary use of the Director of Athletics. ​​​​​​
Robin Elizabeth Pascal World Christianity Series
This endowment, created in memory of Robin Elizabeth Pascal, helps prepare students to be effective agents of the Christian Gospel in an increasingly complex and pluralistic world. Each semester, one speaker of renown in the field of World Christianity, comes to campus for at least two days and speaks in a chapel service, participates in classes or other settings where informal interaction can happen with both students and faculty, and speaks at a public lecture that involves local pastors and laypersons or other academics in the area. This endowment was established in 2003.
Dr. John W. Raede Award
The Dr. John W. Raede Award was first granted in 2002. Dr. John Raede was a professor at °µÍø±¬ÁÏapp for 15 years. He was fluent in at least 5 languages and taught several languages at °µÍø±¬ÁÏapp including German, Spanish, and Russian. In June of 1982, he disappeared while studying the Minangkabau ethnic group in West Sumatra. This scholarship is awarded to students with outstanding scholastic achievement in the field of modern languages.
John Stauffer Charitable Trust Summer Science Research Program
The John Stauffer Charitable Trust has awarded a $500,000 challenge grant to endow the °µÍø±¬ÁÏapp chemistry department's Summer Science Research Program. For more information please click
C. Eugene Walker Award
The C. Eugene Walker Award was established to recognize outstanding psychology students, enabling them to attend a psychology convention/meeting/training session each year.
The Paul and Doris Wilt History Research Award Fund
Paul Wilt, Emeritus Professor of History at °µÍø±¬ÁÏapp, and his wife, Doris, established the Paul and Doris Wilt History Research Award Fund. Paul taught history at °µÍø±¬ÁÏapp for 36 years and then worked as °µÍø±¬ÁÏapp’s archivist. This endowment encourages historical consciousness and rewards careful scholarship.
